MARCO ACQUARELLI
(guitarist, composer, teacher)
He graduated at the Latina Conservatory in 2001. In 1998 he gained a scholarship for the Berklee College of Music in Boston. Since 2000 to 2005 he’s been a teacher at UM in Rome, now is one of the founders of Fonderia Delle Arti in Rome.
In 2000, together with his 4et he won the Barga Jazz Contest and performed at the 23rd Jazz Hoeilaart in Belgium.
He’s been a curios and “new experience-addicted” young man and played in any kind of situation from solo playing to sinphonic orchestra (Mass for Peace 2000) to house music and electronic pop.
Occasionally collaboarates with theater and TV composers and arrangers.
He got a plenty of good suggestions about music from, among others, Nicola Puglielli, Jim Kelly, Pietro Tonolo, Barry Harris, Peter Bernstein, Mark Turner, Adam Rogers.
At present he is Cristiano Arcelli Bestiario’s guitarist (RADAR, Egea Distribution), with this strange beautiful little orchestra he has had the chance to perform in several prestigious situations like the New Morning in Paris, Cagliari’s Jazz in Sardegna, last edition of Umbria Jazz and the Casa Del Jazz in Rome.
He has his own 4et that is going to make his first cd, he plays in a very special duo with Enrico Bracco, he collaborates with pianist-singer Silvia Manco, together they performed at the last edition of Ascona Jazz Festival (Switzerland) with Marilia Vesco’s group and, last but not least, plays in Daniele Mencarelli’s group.
He his so in love with Cloe guitars that he proclaims a hunger strike to have his own model, specially featured against the will of the craftmen themselves.
